YCbCr

YCbCr is a color model.

YCbCr allows image compression techniques to take advantage that the eye is more discriminating of brightness levels than color. Thus YCbCr tends to be particularly favored for storing images (especially photograph images) and video. (Among the file formats that can support the YCbCr color model is TIFF and JPEG).

YCbCr represents colors as a combination of three values:
  1. Y - the luminosity (roughly the brightness)

  2. Cb - the chrominance (roughly color) of the blue primary

  3. Cr - the chrominance (roughly color) of the red primary (Green is achieved by using a combination of these three values).
