DirectDraw

DirectDraw is one of Microsoft's DirectX programming interfaces.

DirectDraw is used to display graphics in applications where maximimum performance is essential, and allows applications to run full-screen instead of in a window.

If the user's computer has a Graphics Card with hardware acceleration, DirectDraw should take advantage of it (assuming appropriate driver software is installed).
