How To Slice An Image Into Smaller Images

Chapter 5: Slicing Images Vertically and Horizontally Into Multiple Segments

What if we want to slice an image into both vertical and horizontal pieces?

We already know (from chapter 2, how to slice an image into as many vertical pieces as we want.
We also know (from chapter 4, how to slice an image into as many horizontal pieces as we want.

So all we have to do is combine the two techniques: First we slice the image in one direction, then in the other.

For example:

If we started from this:

First we could slice vertically (using the techniques in chapter 1 and chapter 2), to get this:

And then we could slice each of the pieces horizontally (using the techniques in chapter 3 and chapter 4), to get this:
