How To Slice An Image Into Smaller Images

Chapter 5: Slicing Images Vertically and Horizontally Into Multiple Segments

What if we want to slice an image into both vertical and horizontal pieces?
  • We already know (from chapter 2, how to slice an image into as many vertical pieces as we want.

  • We also know (from chapter 4, how to slice an image into as many horizontal pieces as we want.
So all we have to do is combine the two techniques: First we slice the image in one direction, then in the other.

For example:

If we started from this:

First we could slice vertically (using the techniques in chapter 1 and chapter 2), to get this:


And then we could slice each of the pieces horizontally (using the techniques in chapter 3 and chapter 4), to get this:
