    Make Screen Shots

    Chapter 4: Some Helpful Tools

So far, we've talked about manual methods of performing screen captures. However, there are a few issues that you need to be aware of:
    1. The manual method may not be able to capture some things, particularly some games (particularly games that use DirectX) and multimedia programs.

    2. If you want to capture a web page or document, that is larger than the screen (one that needs to scroll to show the whole thing), it's not easy to do this manually. To do it manually, you'd have to capture different sections of the page, and then manually stitch them together to join up seamlessly (hard work!).

    3. If you want to capture a specific or precise area of the screen, you have to capture the whole screen (or a whole window), and then try to crop it to the correct size.

    4. It can be very hard (and sometimes impossible) to capture things which appear only briefly on screen, for example, drop-down menus in software programs.

    5. Screen capture utilities may also help you with manipulating and sharing the images that you capture.
For this reason, if you're serious about taking screenshots, or you need to take a lot of them, you may want to get a utility to help you such as:
    • Screendash! Image Software
Amazing Image Software For Capturing Images From Screen Or Webcam, Tweak The Images With Drawing & Photo Retouching Tools & Clip-art. Share The Images Online Via Facebook, Twitter, Flickr & More!

    • SnagIt
SnagIt is one of the most powerful, and probably market leading programs for taking screenshots.
