XPS File Format
Like PDF, XPS is very good at reproducing paper documents on screen, including large multi-page documents, and is also excellent for printing them. Its primary intended use is thus for distributing or archiving electronic versions of paper documents. XPS files can be prepared by using a special printer driver (allowing users to generate an XPS file from any Microsoft Windows based application that supports printing. Additionally, recent versions of Microsoft Office include functions to generate XPS files directly - when used, these embed more intelligence into the files (for example, better searching and navigation facilities) than would be the case for a printer-driver generated XPS file.
