Adobe PSD

Short Name PSD
Long Name Adobe PSD
Typical File Extensions .psd
Contains Bitmaps

Adobe Photoshop is probably the premier application for image editing. PSD is the native format for this program.

The format stores a series of images (with layers and blending) either not compressed, or compressed using a PackBits compression scheme.

As one might expect, this format can incorporate a sophisticated color model.
