PCD File Format
Kodak Photo CD is an method of getting photographic images from film into your computer. The idea is that you bring your exposed rolls of film to a Photo CD service provider, who then develops and scans the film to a Photo CD. I understand that you can also get scans made from a film that has already been developed. The Photo CD images are scanned at a very high resolution and thus the images are large (3072 by 2048 pixels for the normal Photo CD service, or 6144 by 4096 pixels for the Pro Photo CD service), with each image stored in a separate PCD file. Each PCD file also contains smaller, scaled down images of the large image. I understand the PCD file format is compressed, possibly using patented methods.
