FPX File Format
The FlashPix format is bitmap storage format developed by a consortium of Eastman Kodak, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and Live Picture Inc. In the FlashPix format, each image is saved in more than one resolution, and additionally divided into 64 X 64 tiles, each of which may be uncompressed or compressed. The purpose of the format is to allow saving of bandwidth and download times when accessing images from a web browser: this is because because only the image required for the current screen resolution is sent to the browser.
