OS/2 BMP File Format
This is the standard format for storing bitmaps in the ill-fated OS/2 operating system. Confusingly, Microsoft have also developed another format also called BMP which was designed for Windows. The Windows BMP format is very similar, but has a different header. Consequently, and given the relative success of Windows as compared to OS/2, most BMP compatible programs can only read Windows BMP format files. When most people (or programs for that matter) refer to "BMP" they will be refering to the Windows BMP format.
